It's great to see the Columbus Blue Jackets focusing on their defensive game this season! With a new head coach and a fresh system in place, it's understandable that there would be some growing pains. The fact that players like Zach Werenski and Mathieu Olivier are recognizing the importance of team defense and the need for a solid structure is a positive sign.

I love how they’re emphasizing the neutral zone play and the importance of quick decisions. That’s crucial in today’s NHL where speed and skill are paramount. It’s also refreshing to hear that they’re not just looking at the numbers but are focused on the process and the improvements they’re making game by game.

Even though they’ve allowed 18 goals in five games, the players seem to have a belief in their system and are committed to sticking with it. That kind of mindset can really pay off in the long run. If they can continue to build on their defensive play and get their D involved in the offense, they could surprise a lot of people this season.

I’m excited to see how they perform against tougher opponents like the Toronto Maple Leafs. That game will be a real test of their progress. What do you think? Do you believe they can turn things around and become a competitive team this season?
