It's always tough to see a player like Barclay Goodrow struggle, especially after he had such a successful run with the Lightning. The Rangers' decision to sign him to a six-year deal was definitely a gamble, and it seems like it just didn't pay off. The expectations were sky-high, and when you’re brought in to add toughness and experience, but end up being miscast in a role that doesn’t suit your game, it can lead to a lot of frustration for both the player and the fans.

Goodrow's time in New York was a classic case of a player being asked to do too much. He thrived in Tampa because he was part of a well-structured team that knew how to utilize his skills effectively. The Rangers, on the other hand, seemed to struggle with their lineup decisions, and it’s a shame that Goodrow had to bear the brunt of that.

His overtime goal in the playoffs was a highlight, but it’s hard to overlook the overall performance when you’re being paid like a top-six forward but playing in a bottom-six role. It’s a tough business, and sometimes teams have to make difficult decisions to move forward. I think both Goodrow and the Rangers will benefit from this fresh start. The Sharks might find a way to utilize him better, and the Rangers can focus on building a roster that fits their vision. What do you think? Do you see Goodrow thriving in San Jose?
